Planting In Our Heart Garden
Love Yourself as Much as You Love the Earth
This Sunday completed three powerful live teachings with Nukumi Selina Mu. Our overall theme was Falling in Love with Earth Mother.
Nukumi’s teachings are grounded in her own experience of connection with trees as a child, an abrupt disconnection at 13 when she was moved to a chaotic inner city environment, and her reconnection that began to ripen thirty five years ago.
Her life and teachings are an expression of love. Her daily life is a practice of connection. She shared some profound experiences, like Giving and Receiving Love in the Labyrinth; asking the trees for help and a weekly visit with an old oak tree. This week she shared a ceremonial message from Earth Mother. “Tell them they are flowers in my garden” and a reflection - What are you planting in your heart garden right now?
Resistance and fear are an ongoing contemplation for me and so many others. We have an experience of connection yet we don’t nurture it as fully as we might. Nukumi trusts to ask for help from nature, both to understand and to release fear. We are organic and permeable. Her invitation is to tend our ecosystem with consistency and care.
I am sitting with inspiration to continue to deepen into connection with Earth Mother: through trees, earth and water; the air, birds and sun; daily rituals of connection as I step outside each morning with gratitude; as I pause and prepare to eat a meal; through internal work with my own mind and nervous system; and through all I share with other people and Beings.
When we are separated from the Earth, we forget who we are. Disconnection from land leads to disconnection from self, and from knowing our inherent value and belonging. We are on a journey back to wholeness and unity.
Nukumi shared a core teaching this week from Earth Mother: “Love yourself as much as you love me.”
I deeply appreciate our journey together - with Nukumi and Fyre Jean Graveline who joined us live this month, and with respect for the generosity and wisdom of Indigenous teachings. Many of us were separated from our relationship with Earth. We can trust the divine intelligences of Nature to welcome us home.
We have time to let these teachings settle into our bones and notice what is growing in our inner garden. Join us next week in our Sunday free community class for reflection and integration. Details here.
Nukumi is an Earth Shaman Medicine Keeper and a Grandmother with LIFE as Medicine. She also works individually with people and invites you to connect with her for a free Wisdom Chat to explore possibilities. https://whiteturtlemedicinelodge.com/
