In January 2025, Dustin LindenSmith (he/him) entered the practicum portion of his Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Yorkville University. He provides mental health counseling services as a practicum student under the supervision of Dr. Ange Cooper, a Clinical Psychologist in private practice and an Assistant Professor with the Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University.
Background and Therapeutic Approach
Like Dr. Cooper, Dustin has always been drawn to deep conversations with people about their emotions and their inner worlds. He also comes to this profession as an avowed feminist, husband, and queer-affirming father. Prior to entering this field, he has been a jazz saxophonist, an IT professional, a community volunteer, and a stay-at-home parent.
Under Dr. Cooper’s supervision, Dustin will be treating anxiety, depression, mind-body difficulties and other issues using evidence-based approaches including Internal Family Systems (IFS) and psychodynamic psychotherapy.
By holding a safe therapeutic space and facilitating compassionate self-inquiry and insight, Dustin will help his clients process difficult emotions, reorient themselves towards their own strengths, and foster recovery from past trauma, disordered eating behaviors, or issues in couples and family relationships.

Hello sweet soul and welcome. With my passion to help people get unstuck and manage anxiety, I use somatics to help people center to life. By relaxing the body, regulating the nervous system, and healing the inner child, I help people create the life they want so they love living.
I help people rediscover the body as an incredible intelligence with somatic mindfulness and inquiry, somato-Reiki guidance, embodiment, empowerment, Qigong, yoga, and Reiki. I work with groups and in 1:1 sessions on the phone or on zoom and at Yoga Farm Ithaca.
In 2019, my body offered messages of illness and pain suggesting things in my life needed to change. The above modalities helped me speak up for myself, leave situations that no longer served me and heal from illness, burnout, and deep-seated ‘issues stuck in my tissues,’ including sexual trauma, hyper-vigilance, a mean inner critic, compulsive thinking, and core deficiency beliefs.
I left a 15-year career in academia as an ecology researcher and instructor as well as a long-term relationship to cut my own path. I went on to create the life of my dreams and I’ve never been happier. I continue to free myself from unconscious beliefs. If you’re ready for a change, I know you can do this too.
