Come Explore Friends With Your Mind With Me Live

The day my author copies arrived, I held the book in my hands and felt a quiet joy. This book has been part of my life for many years, and it grew out of the same questions many of us carry. Why do our thoughts sometimes feel so relentless? Why do we turn against ourselves in our own minds? And how can we develop a kinder relationship with our thinking? I know what this might offer to the right reader at the right moment.

That book is Friends With Your Mind: How to Stop Torturing Yourself With Your Thoughts. A lot has changed in how we understand and heal trauma since 2017, and this new edition reflects that growth, that deeper understanding, and the many conversations I've had with students and practitioners over the years.

Here's what I'd love to do: go through it together. Live. Week by week, practice by practice.

So many of us are in a constant battle with our own minds. We replay conversations, brace for what might go wrong, and criticize ourselves for not being further along. We think if we just worry enough, or push hard enough, or figure it out, we'll finally feel okay.

This book is an invitation to try something different. To stop fighting your mind and start understanding it. To discover that it's actually possible to be, as the title suggests, friends with your mind.

Starting Sunday, March 15, we'll explore the book together in our free Sunday community class. Each week we'll move through a new theme, sitting with the ideas and actually trying some of the practices, not just reading about them, but letting them work on us.

Every Tuesday at 6PM Eastern, you're welcome to join me on Insight Timer Live, where we'll explore and experience the practices in real time. Tuesday sessions are also available through our Daily Practice Zoom link, so come wherever feels most comfortable to you.

This isn't a book club. It's a chance to let the material land somewhere deep, held by a community of people who are showing up for themselves in the same way you are.

Our journey together:

March 10 & 15: Our Struggle With Thoughts: How the Mind Works
March 17 & 22: Fearful and Anxious Thoughts
March 24 & 29: Core Deficiency Beliefs and Reframing Shame
March 31 & April 5: Perfectionism and the Inner Critic
April 7 & 12: What's on Your Mind? Witnessing Thought
April 14 & 19: Catastrophic Thinking, Ruminating, and Returning to Safety

The book is available with an Audio Companion Guide, so you can read and listen at your own pace between our live sessions.

Sunday classes are free and open to all. Insight Timer sessions include the full practice on Tuesdays, but only the first portion of inquiry with slides on Sundays. Joining our Sunday class is a more complete experience

Whether you've been practicing with me for years or you're finding your way here for the first time, you are so welcome. I hope you'll join me. There's something genuinely beautiful about doing this kind of inner work together, and I'd love for you to be part of it.
