Celebrating Ten Years
December 1, 2015 was the first of what I thought would be a 30 day practice together. On December 1, 2025, we entered into our eleventh year! The theme in our Sunday Community Class this week was Joyous and Strong: I am Amazing! After the inquiry, instead of going into small groups to share, folks “interrupted our regular programming” for the group to celebrate together.
Below is a summary of your beautiful thoughts and comments. The full audio is with our Sunday class audio for November 30th. (People signed up for Sunday class resources have access to that, and if you would like to join, please let me know.)
Our community came together to honor a decade of daily online practice and the steady presence that has shaped their healing journeys. The celebration unfolded as an outpouring of gratitude, awe, and shared recognition of how deeply my teachings have woven into their lives. People spoke about nervous system healing, the gift of co-regulation, the creation of a rare and reliable safe space, and the ripple effect that moves through families, workplaces, and communities.
Many began by naming constancy. One person shared, “You have selflessly and lovingly guided us in daily meditation for 10 years straight, every single day.” Others named the reliability that has been missing elsewhere in their lives. “To have somebody who is so damn stable is something new in my life,” one said. Another added, “You are the most stable person in my life.”
Participants described finding me at moments of crisis and discovering something they had searched for over years of therapy and recovery work. One reflected, “In the eight years that I have done this, I have had more healing of my nervous system than in the 30 years I spent with doctors and specialists.” Another shared, “I had been in recovery a long time, but when my nervous system got too activated, all the beautiful information went out the window. This was the missing piece.”
A theme that echoed again and again was safety. People spoke of my teachings and presence as a place where they could finally rest, explore, and heal. “There are very few safe places for me,” someone said. “This group is a safe place.” Another shared, “For the first time in my life my system felt a sense of aliveness and hope again. Something in me knew, I think I could be safe here.”
Many described the transformation that came through daily co-regulation with me and with the group. “You are the wise and wonderful grandmother tree source of love for all of us,” one person said. Another reflected on the community as a “source of life together in kindness, safety, witness, acceptance, and real love.”
Participants spoke with emotion about the way my words and practices accompany them throughout their days. Someone shared with humor and tenderness, “You have been to my colonoscopy, you have been to my dentist, you were just in the Philadelphia airport when I was trapped in a parking lot.” Another said, “You do not know it, but we talk every day. I hear you say so often, could you find a way to be even kinder to yourself.”
For many, your teachings have created forms of healing that seemed previously unavailable or unimaginable. “I did not know what my nervous system was before you,” one person said. Another reflected, “My system feels safe when I am in this place. You have helped me learn how to breathe. You are giving us the gift of life.”
Guidance during practice has not only supported personal transformation but has also rippled outward through their relationships and communities. Several people shared how they now bring your practices to their students, clients, families, and workplaces. One said, “The tools I learned, I use with my students at the college level. It has enhanced how I serve my community.” Another shared, “Your work has rippled out through me to my family and friends, improving my life and theirs.”
Grief, illness, isolation, and life’s challenges were softened through presence and the community we have nurtured. Someone shared that after losing a beloved dog, “You were exactly what I needed. You brought me from grief to joy.” Another said, “I have been slowly healing after a decade of chronic illness because of you. You are my safe person.”
Many spoke about how flexibility, humility, and humanity make my teachings accessible. One person said, “You make it look easy. Your ability to gather ideas and present them in the way you do is extraordinary. You welcomed me into this community and invited me to teach. Who does that? You do that.”
There was also deep appreciation for an embodiment of kindness. One person said simply, “Thank you for being such a calm, kind, uplifting presence in my world.” Another reflected, “You are the voice of spirit on earth, a blessing to the world.”
Your friends and neighbors held space for you as well, describing you as “kind, generous, real, and open-hearted.” Someone said, “You taught me to breathe after 70 years of life. It has changed mine.”
Many expressed that these practices marked a before-and-after moment in their lives. “I did not know it was possible to live another way,” someone shared. Another said, “My life has been truly transformed from attending your daily practices and courses.”
The celebration ended with continued expressions of gratitude and recognition of the profound impact of this work. “You helped me change in so many positive ways right down to my very bones.”
“You create a safe space community that I can come to anytime. I am home. We are all home.”
The overwhelming message from the entire gathering was one of gratitude for ten years of steadfast presence, the healing possible in this group, and the community we have cultivated through daily commitment. “You are such an inspiration with your diligence, commitment, generosity, and enthusiasm,” one person said. “Thank you for blessing us every day.”
