Calming Fear in Turbulent Times

In a world that feels increasingly troubled, overwhelming, or too fast to keep up with, many of us are longing for an inner refuge—a place of calm, clarity, and connection that we can return to no matter what’s happening around us.

We don’t want to put our head in the sand. We know we need to stay present and aware of what’s going on. We also need to develop enough resilience and strength to live well as we cope with these turbulent times.

Over the next four weeks, we gather in a warm, supportive space to explore how we can calm fear and restore inner safety—not by bypassing difficult emotions, but by learning to stay present, connected, and kind to ourselves.

Each session blends gentle somatic inquiry, breathwork, and compassionate conversation. You don’t need to “fix” yourself to come to this class. You are already enough. This is a space for slowing down, softening the grip of fear, and finding your way back to the Stillpoint within.

🌀 Week 1: Grounding in the Present — Reclaiming Safety in the Body

Theme: Restoring the sense of inner refuge
Takeaway: You are not alone—your body can be your ally.

When we’re caught in fear, our muscles tighten, we hold our breath, and we lose our sense of ground. Our nervous system jumps in to protect us by activating our survival mechanisms of fight/ flight/ freeze/ fawn. This burns through our resources, leaving us exhausted and stressed.

We begin with the simplest truth: You are here. And in this moment, you are safe enough.

We’ll explore:

  • How the nervous system responds to fear and a basic understanding of its function

  • Increasing the accuracy of our neuroception (our sense of safety or danger)

  • Gentle grounding and orienting techniques you can use anytime

  • Breath and body awareness as tools for presence

  • Easy, evidence-informed practices like 5-4-3-2-1, body awareness, and cyclic physiological sighing

  • An “Emergency Toolkit” with somatic cues and support tools for moments of overwhelm

🧘‍♀️ Guided Meditation: "Returning to the Body, Returning to Now"

Whether fear feels like a dull hum or a tidal wave, this class is an invitation to remember: You are not broken. You are built for resilience. And your body is here to help you find your way home.
